A.Definition of Recount Text

According by Muhzin Nawawi, recount is a text which retells events or experiences in the past. Its purpose is either to inform or to entertain the audience. There is  no complication among the participants.

According byBima Mustriana, recount text is a text that telling the reader about one story, action or activity in the past.

According by Galih Ariffansyah, recount text is a text which retells events or experiences in the past chronologically. This text describes about the writer’s personal experience with truly happens in his or her life. The experience may be horror, fun, etc.

Recout text is that retell the even or experiences of the authors that have accured to inform or to entertain the audiance. Recount text tells the evens in prder step by step and there is no complicaton among the of  recount text using  a word or phrase to start.

B.The Purpose of Recount Text

The purpose of recount text is to retell or to inform the reader about what was happened to the writer with series of events.

C.The Characteristics of Recount Text

·                     Recount text use adverb of time, for example; when, one day, once upon  time, last holiday, after, before, etc.

·                     Using the simple past tense, past continuous tense, past perfect tense, and past perfect continuous tense.

·                     Using adjectives to modify nouns, for example; beautiful girl, diligent student, clever man, etc.

·                     In the recount text we will not get “is” or “are” in the phrase but it will change to “was” or “were” .

D.Generic  Structure of Recount Text

1.                  Orientation: In orientation, the paragraph usually introduces the participants, who are being involved in the text.

2.                  Evets: Usually there are many events may be occurred in recount text, events may be started in the first pargraph, so it is not always started in the secod paragraph. The event usually started with time signals, such as, first, second, then, finally, etc.

3.                  Reorientation: It is th closure of the events. Reorientation is optional, some text may not include this. If there is, usually in the last paragraph.

E.Language Feature of Recount Text

·                     Intoducing personal participant; I, my group, etc.

·                     Using chronologial connection; then, first, etc.

·                     Using linking verb; was, were, saw, heard, etc.

·                     Using action verb; look, go, change, etc.

·                     Using simple past tense.

·                     Using time conective and conjunction; then , before, after, soon, etc.

F.The Example and Structure of The Text

Our trip to Parangtritis Beach

Orientation	Last holiday, my parents and I went to Prangtritis beach. We stayed in cotage near the beach, a simple and beauty house.
Events	In the morning, we saw the sunrise and beautiful scenery. We walked in seashore and bought some souvenirs. Then, we took a picture together. In the afternoon, we went to the zoo and saw some animals, such as: monkey, elephant, tiger, deer, etc.
Reorientatnion	In the evening, we went home.
